NAMPA — Services for Blanche Doan Compton, 86, of Nampa, who died on Sunday, Jan. 15, 1984, in a Nampa hospital, will be conducted at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 18, at the Chapel of the Chimes, Meridian, Pastor Mike Howard of the Church of the Open Door in Nampa will officiate. Interment will follow in the Meridian Cemetery.
She was born Blanche Irene Cravens on Dec. 24, 1897, in Kansas. She married Richard Doan on Sept. 14, 1915, in Oklahoma where they farmed for many years. They moved to Idaho in 1936, farming east of Kuna, and they retired to Nampa. Mr. Doan died in 1956. She then married Roy Compton on March 8, 1959, and he also preceded her in death.
She was active in the Baptist Church in Kuna and the Church of the Open Door at Nampa, until ill health in 1976.
Survivors include a son, Francis "Hank" Doan of Meridian; two daughters, Beulah Hunsperger and Mabel Pollack, both of Nampa; three brothers, Kenneth Cravens of Fairview, Okla., Russell Cravens of Putman, Okla., and Clifford Cravens of Langdale, Okla.; two sisters, Pearl Wiley of Langdale and Maggie Kennedy of Warner, Okla.; 16 grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren; 14 great-great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews; seven stepchildren; and numerous step grandchildren. In addition to her husbands she was preceded in death by two daughters, Gladys Jordon and Mildred Grigg, six grandchildren, a great-great-granddaughter, three sisters and four brothers.
Pallbearers will be grandsons, Roy Doan, Ken and Irvin Hunsperger, Dick Jordon, Rick Spriggs and Richard Troughton.
The family suggests that memorials be made in her memory to the Church of the Open Door, 1311 6th St. So. Nampa 83651.
