William Conkey, my 5th gr-grandfather, was the son of Alexander Conkey and Margaret Thurston, husband to 1st, Mary Young and 2nd, Rebekah Hamilton. He was an original proprietor of the town of Pelham, MA and the owner of Conkey's Tavern where Daniel Shays and his followers planned an insurrection against the Massachusetts government. He and Rebekah were first buried in Pelham Hollow Cemetery, Prescott, MA and were reinterred in Quabbin Park Cemetery.
