He was born Aug. 8, 1936, in Statesboro, Ga., to John Russell Sr. and Annie Bell Adams. He married Sue Tsukiko Adams on Sept. 15, 1958, and she passed away May 25, 2004.
Surviving are his three sons, John Russell Jr., Charles W. Jr. and David W. (Lisa) Adams; three grandchildren, John Russell III, Michael (Traci) and Katie; three great-grandchildren, Amaya, Camden and Ruby; two sisters, Martha F. Foglio and Vivian A. Lott; and one brother, James E. Adams.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Bobby G. Adams.
He served in the United States Army during the Vietnam War.
Charles retired in Aberdeen, Md., from the United States Army and Civil Service, and then moved to Hopedale.
He was a member of American Legion Post 382 in Delavan, Ill.
The family wishes to thank the Hopedale Medical Complex and staff for their loving care.
His funeral will be at 3 p.m. Sunday, June 21, 2015, at Davis-Oswald Funeral Home in Hopedale. Pastor Kurt Walker will officiate. Visitation will be from 1 to 2:45 p.m. Sunday, also at the funeral home. Burial will be in Mennonite Cemetery in Hopedale.
Memorials may be made to American Legion Post 382 in Delavan, Ill.
