Ervan J. Zeller of Hyrum, Utah died suddenly on Wednesday, December 6, 2006 in Logan, Utah. He met his goal of reaching 80 years of age. Ervan was born in Lovell, Wyoming on December 3, 1926 to William Joseph Zeller and Ludean Beal. He married Sherley Hale on February 2, 1951 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. They are the parents of five sons and two daughters: James H. (Donnie) of Auburn, WA; Robert E. (Terri) of Logan, UT; David H. (Merry Lu) of Hyrum, UT; John R. (MaryAnne) of Duxbury, MA; Raymond E. (LuAnne) of North Las Vegas, NV; Sheryl A. (Bret) Rohde of Tremonton, UT; and Carol M. Bybee of Hyrum, UT.

Erv was raised in Lovell, Wy., the second child of four boys. He graduated from Lovell High and entered the Armed Services in May 1943, where he served in all three branches during WWII. He was personally decorated by Charles DeGaul at the liberation of Paris. After leaving the service he attended BYU where he met his sweetheart, Sherley Hale. He graduated with a Bachelors degree in Accounting, and began his career at J.C. Penny. He also worked as a bank examiner for the State of Utah, for the IRS, and an auditor for the U.S. Air Force.

He was a lifelong member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints and served in many callings, his favorite being Scout Master.

He is survived by his wife; three brothers: Clarence (Bessie) of Lovell, WY; Don (Roma) of Tooele, UT; and Eldon (Nina) of Orem, UT; seven children; 35 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and 2 great-great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents.

Funeral services will be held at 12:00 noon, Monday, December 11, 2006 at the Hyrum 7th Ward Chapel, 190 West Main. Friends and family may call Sunday evening at Nelson Funeral Home, 162 East 400 North, Logan from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. or Monday morning at the church from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. prior to services. Interment will be in the Hyrum City Cemetery. Condolences may be extended to the family online at Nelson Funeral Home.
