I was contacted a while back from a descendant of Tude. She had never heard his name was in fact Alexander and always seen his name as "Alec". But his full name was written in his Mother's Bible as Alexander Elvin "Tude" Frakes. And also written in his oldest sister's handwriting on the back of the family photo where he was the baby as his full name. He may have changed it as an adult? I don't know...but do it was written that way in two different sources in two different hand writing. So I'm not trying to contradict him or his family as to what his "true" name was. Only know what his Mother's Bible stated and what his oldest sister Mary referred him as to her daughter. Granny Icie verified when she would talk of her Aunts and uncles as his name was Alexander but everyone called him Tude...giggling as to she couldn't remember "why" he came about being called that but know her mother Mary always said that's what they called him... But again he may have changed his name later in life. (I know many 'men' of his generation did that. My husband's great grandfather on the other side of his family switched his name around when he filed for Social Security, so his name looks different in his mother's Bible. So that wasn't to uncommon) So if you are researching this man and his family do random searches with various spellings of Alexander...Alex, Alec, Tude etc.
