He was killed when the car in which he was riding skidded off Steven Pass Highway (about 5 miles west of the Pass summit) and rolled down an embankment. He lived with his brother, Charles, in Everett, Washington. At the time of his death he was 70 years old and had resided in Everett for 32 years.
