He was a retired City Carrier for the U. S. Postal Service at Alexandral, Louisiana and served in the U.S. Navy and the U.S. Air Force.

He is survived by his wife, Wanda Durham Sonnier of Silsbee, Texas and two daughters Michelle and Stacy.

He was buried on July 24, 1985 in Sonnier Cemetery, Soileau, Louisiana
