Funeral services for Richard Dahl Nelsen, 86, of Lake Benton, were held Saturday, Dec. 18, 11 a.m. at Grace Lutheran Church, Lake Benton MN.

Officiant was Pastor Nancy Hong

Organist was Diane Evers.

Congregational hymns were "Amazing Grace," "What a Friend We Have In Jesus" " O Little Town of Bethlehem," "How Great Thoug Art," "Oh, Come, All Ye Faithful."

Honorary casket bearers were grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Casket bearers wer Mike Kruger, Dennis Inmen, Brian Nelsen, Troy Nordmeyer, Corey Willert, and Daniel Nelsen.

Interment was in Diamond Lake Cemetery, Diamond Lake Township, Lincoln County, Minnesota.

Arrangements provided by Utoft-Johansen Funeral & Cremation Service; Quinn M. Horvarth, Director.

Richard Dahl Nelsen was born July 30, 1913, in Lincoln County, Minnesota, to Nels and Inger (Bornhoft) Nelsen. He was baptized and confirmed at Diamond Lake Lutheran Church. Richard was united in marriage to Marvel Baumann in 1935 in Brookings, SD. The couple farmed for many years northwest of Lake Benton. Richard also worked for the Co-op for 22 years. He participated on the Lake Benton Farmer's Elevator Borad, and was a member of Diamond Lake Lutheran Church. Richard greatly enjoyed spending time with family and watching fast-pitch softball and boxing.

Richard died Tuesday, December 14, 1999, at the Sunrise Manor in Tyler, MN, at the age of 86 years, four months and 14 days.

Richard is survived by his children: Glenn(Diane) Nelsen of Lake Benton, Norma (Jim) Najt of Jackson, Darwin Nelsen of Ponca City, OK, Delores (Dale) Schumann of Jackson, Carol (Dale) Anderson of Marshall, Karen Schultz of Owatonna, and Dennis (Cindy) Nelsen of Indpepndence, MN; 27 grandchildren; 37 great-grandchildren; one brother, Harry Nelsen; and sisters: Helen Dahl, Edna Kragh, Dagmar Weisman, and Elva Meier; many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

Richard was preceded in death by his parents, wife, three sons-in-law, two brothers, and two sisters.
