Son of William and Tressie Mershon. He attended Bloomington High School and was employed by the Krispie Kreme Donut Company in Bloomington and in Muncie before he entered military service in October 1942. He was a member of the 502nd Parachute Infantry and took his training at Fort Bragg, NC. He was killed in action at Cherbourg, France on June 11, 1944. His brother, William Merson was killed in a train wreck in January 1943.
