At age 18 Charles joined the Navy becoming a Chief Hospital Corpsman within 5 years. After returning from a tour in China Charles was stationed at Bethesda Naval Hospital, Bethesda, Maryland Charles where he met and married his wife, Rachael Schulke, 22 July 1950. Rachel was an Ensign in the US Navy Nurse Corps stationed at the Bethesda Navy Hospital, Bethesda, Maryland at that time.

After serving for 22 years Charles Stanley Adams retired as a Senior Chief Hospital Corpsman. Among his many achievements Senior Chief Adams won all the honors for Good Conduct with the last Silver Star being awarded upon retirement.

Charles then worked for the City of San Diego, California for 18 years. He was also an active leader in both his Community and his Church.
