Police Officer Had Served on Force 24 Years

Funeral services for Arthur J. Hill, forty-nine, Seattle police officer, will be held at 11 a.m. tomorrow at Forkner's University Funeral Chapel with executives of the department acting as honorary pallbears.

Patrolman Hill died of a heart attack Wednesday, ending twenty-four years of service on the Seattle force. His career included the capture of several bandits. Once when assigned to the detective division, he posed as a taxicab driver for five days in order to capture a ring of narcotic peddlers.

Born in Oslo, Norway, Patrolman Hill was chief petty officer in the United States navy during World War I and served aboard a submarine chaser in the Atlantic.

He is survived by his widow, Joan.
