son of the late John L. and Mildred E. (Duwe) Malinoski.
He served in the Coast Guard during World War II, enlisted on May 13, 1942, at Buffalo, N.Y., and was discharged on May 12, 1945, at Brooklyn, N.Y.
After serving in the Coast Guard, he worked at Brock Publishing for a period of time. He was also head custodian for Cattaraugus Central School for many years.
Ed was a member of the Cattaraugus Fire Department and Ambulance Squad, American Legion of Little Valley and the Veterans of Foreign Wars in Mayville. He served as mayor of the village of Cattaraugus, also the village board, and justice of the peace for many years.
He is survived by a son, Thomas E. (Jean) Malinoski of Forestville, N.Y.; a daughter, Kathleen A. (James) Southworth of Cattaraugus, N.Y.; a grandson, Edward J. (Emily) Southworth of Ellery Center, N.Y.; three granddaughters: Erin M. (George) Haffenden of East Aurora, N.Y., Jennifer L. (Sean) Burke of Tampa, Fla., and Suzanna Borst of Astoria, N.Y.; four great-grandchildren; and a brother, Francis J. Malinoski of Mayville, N.Y;
also several nieces and nephews.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his spouse, Eileen R. Malioski, whom he married in Miami, Fla., on Dec. 24, 1944.
