W. A. Young was born in Bowie County, Texas, October 22, 1855 thus had he lived until his next birthday he would have been 80 years of age.
The first marriage was to Miss Margaret Taylor who died early in life, leaving only one little girl. The second marriage was to Miss Nancie Strain and to this union there were ten children, two of them died while quite young and now there are 33 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. The companion now mourns the dearth of her husband.
The children surviving are Mrs. Mary _____ of De Kalb, Texas; Mrs. Mattie Harbin, MaCalla, Ala; Mrs. Ethel Brockus, Idabel. Okla.; Mrs. Bessie Alexander and Jim Young of Hamlin, Texas, and Mrs. Sallie Noble, Jim Young and Mrs. Opal Lynch, all of McCaulley. The deceased came to Jones County in 1923, proved a good citizen, was a loving father and a faithful companion. While a young man he joined the Baptist Church.
Funeral services were conducted at the McCaulley Cemetery Thursday, Aug. 1 by the pastor of the McCaulley Methodist Church, Rev. Bateman
The body was in charge of the Barrow Company and internment was made in the presence of a large number of sympathizing neighbors and friends.
