Joseph L. Cunningham, 85, of Marshall, died Wednesday, March 7, 2007, at The Living Center in Marshall.

Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday, March 10, 2007, at Longwood Cemetery in Pettis County. Visitation will be from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Friday at Sweeney Reser Wills Funeral Home in Marshall.

He was born Aug. 16, 1921, near Blue Lick in Saline County, the son of the late Joseph and Mabel Holder Cunningham. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II from 1942 until his discharge in 1946. He owned and operated Cunningham Grocery and Service Station at Marshall Junction from 1953 until his retirement in 2006. He was a lifelong resident of Marshall Junction.

Survivors include one sister, Dorothy Nadine Cunningham, of the home; and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Herbert Cunningham and Leroy Cunningham.
