Philadelphia Inquirer-January 23, 1916-Mr. and Mrs. John Toram Celebrate Golden Wedding
In company with their daughter and son, Mr. and Mrs. John Toram yesterday celebrated the fiftieth anniversary of their wedding, at their home, 820 South Fifty-seventh street. Both in the best of health, they made the golden holiday one of strenuous entertainment.
Mr. Toram is a past commander of Hector Tyndale Post, G. A. F., No. 160. He enlisted in the United States army twice during the Civil War and took part in a number of important engagements. In the battle of the Wilderness and at Gettysburg this Philadelphia soldier was particularly in the heat of the action. Mr. Toram is a member of William B Schnider Lodge, No. 419, and Philadelphia Commandery, No. 2, of Free and Accepted Masons. Throughout yesterday he and Mrs. Toram were besieged with congratulatory notes and gifts from his fellow members and veteran comrades. The couple were entertained at a theatre party by their friends last night, followed by dinner at the Belleveue-Stratford Hotel.
