Services are scheduled for 10 a.m. today at New Hebron Baptist Church for Katie Smith, 89, of New Hebron who died of heart failure on Feb. 23, 1993, at Lawrence County Hospital in Monticello.
The Revs. Charles Davis and Jimmy Magee will officiate. Interment will be in the New Hebron Cemetery.
A native of Lawrence County, Miss Smith was a waitress at the Wathall Hotel in Jackson for 20 years. She was a member of the New Hebron Baptist Church, where she attended the Women's Missionary Union.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Mr.and Mrs. A. P. Smith, Sr.; two brothers and two sisters. Survivors include one brother, Arthur Smith of Pinola; and three sisters, Mrs.Irma Dunn of Jackson and Mrs. Jimmie Fortenberry and Mrs. Emily Tooke, both of Monticello.
