Ingeborg was the 4th of 9 children born to Norwegian immigrants, Aslak and Aaste Graavum Aaby. She attended Flata, the one-room Norwegian school, in Dodge County, MN, and was baptized and confirmed at W. St. Olaf Lutheran Church.
Ingeborg married Kristian Pederson Fjerestad in Dodge County, MN where both of their families farmed.
Together this couple moved to SD where they got a farm and 8 children. Four of the children died in infancy and are buried in the Toronto, SD cemetery along with Ingeborg who died shortly after their last child was born. Their toddler, Mina, moved to Dodge County, MN and lived with her father's parents for the remainder of their lives, upon her mother's death. Mina was raised like one of her grandparents' own children. Mina, or 'Minnie' lived with her half-aunt, Stina Fjerestad Bjerke, in California and Stina's family, after her grandparents died.

There are no living offspring of this couple. None of the surviving children married, and none had children.
