David Bibb volunteered for military service on October 9, 1861 at Smithland in Livingston County, Kentucky. He was mustered into service as a Private, Company D, 20th Kentucky Infantry. Only months after his entrance into the military, David developed pneumonia and was sent to Nashville, Tennessee to recover. Apparently his recovery wasn't going well and was sent home to his wife and six children where he almost immediately contracted measles and soon died. His wife Lucinda drew a pension until her death in 1903. Thanks to stonewall and Christina11 for their research help.
