Joseph Octave Young, my Great Grandfather, born 16 October 1835, St. Hyacinthe, Quebec. Died, 30th June 1890, Franklin, Franklin County, Vermont.
Joseph was about twenty-seven years old when he married Sophia Houle/Wood on 5th April 1863 in Franklin, Vermont. Together they had eleven children but not all lived to adulthood. Their loss was great with the death of four small children, Marshall, Minnie, Emma and Flossie. All buried in St. Mary's Cemetery, Franklin, Vermont.
Joseph and his brother Louis were Wheelwrights (Blacksmiths) according to family records and the recorded history of Franklin, Vermont 1789-1989.
Joseph died at the age of 55 years when my Grandmother Jessie Young was but nine and a half years old and her brother Julius was but six and a half years old. They were the two yongest children in this family. After Joseph died, Sophia continued to live in Frankilin, Vermont with the children.
Joseph is buried in St. Mary's Cemetery, Protestant side, Franklin, Vermont.
