Mrs. Alford was born on July 9, 1916, in Toombs County. She and her husband were the proud owners of Alford's General Merchandise of Milledgeville from 1947 to 1978. She made Warner Robins her home about twelve years ago. She was a member of Shirley Hills Baptist Church attended the Joy Sunday School Class and was an avid gardener. Her husband, Mack F. Alford, Sr. parents, Hezekiah and Leah Bell Lanier, son Mack F. Alford, Jr., five brothers and two sisters, preceded her in death.
Family members include her sons, Richard Earl Alford (Linda), Cumberland Md., and William Lanier Alford (Roya), Warner Robins; daughter, Dorothy Ann Oermann (Tim), Orange Park, Florida; sister, Sibyl Batemann, Macon; and seven grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be Sunday, April 13, 2008, from 2 until 3 p.m. at Shirley Hills Baptist Church with funeral services to follow at 3 p.m. Interment will follow in the Baldwin Memorial Gardens, Milledgeville. In lieu of flowers, the family suggest memorial donations be made to the Senior Adult Ministry at Shirley Hills Baptist Church, 615 Corder Road, Warner Robins, Ga. 31093.
