She was born June 4, 1927 to Frank and Cloe (Johnston) Carman of Maysville, Ohio. On March 31, 1946 she married Eldon H. Houx who died on July 18, 1982.
She is survived by two sons, David E. (Cyndi) Houx of Ada, and Daniel E. (Kay) Houx of Harrod; two grandchildren, Jason and Wes Houx; and two step grandchildren, Eric and Amanda Shick.
She was preceded in death by her sister Jeanan Fittro.
Mrs. Houx retired as business manager at the Country Side Clinic after 12 years. She was also a homemaker. In 1945 she graduated from Alger High School as Valedictorian. She was also a graduate of Northwestern Business College and attended Findlay College. Mrs. Houx was a member of the Maysville United Methodist Church where she was a Sunday School teacher, the UMC Women's organization, the Alger Three Arts Club, a trustee for the Alger Public Library, and a member of the Maysville Country Club.
Services were held Feb. 29, 2000 at the Hanson-Neely Funeral Home with the Rev. Joe Royer officiating. Burial was at Carman Cemetery in Alger.
