ELKHART- Bessie Dobbyn, 95, of 29721 Cardinal Ave., died at 12:25 a.m. Friday (Nov. 20, 1998) at home.
She was born on Aug. 7, 1903, in Elkhart. As Bessie L. Forrest, she married John Dobbyn on Sept. 20, 1947, in Elkhart. He died in 1962. Surviving are three daughters, Mrs. Verlin (Winifred) Dorrier, Mrs. Earl (Juanita) Stout and Mrs. Paul (Betty) Fuller, and four sons, Edwin E. Forrest, Charles W. Forrest, Leo W. Forrest, and Jack R. Forrest. They are all of Elkhart. Also surviving are 18 grandchildren; 40 great-grandchildren and eight great- great-grandchildren. A son, Frederick I. Forrest; and four sisters, Mae Caris, Leita Willis, Rieta Sargent and Joyce Poorbaugh, are deceased.
Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday at Hartzler-Gutermuth- Inman Funeral Home. The funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Monday at Northside Church of the Nazarene. The Rev. Oscar Sheets will officiate. Burial will be in Prairie Street Cemetery in Elkhart.
Mrs. Dobbyn retired in 1970 from Boris Smoler & Sons, where she was a seamstress. She was a member of the First Church of God.
Memorials may be given to Northside Church of the Nazarene or First Church of God.
