After serving the church faithfully for many years. Rev. Wampler was elected to the ministry by the Mill Creek congregation three years ago, which office he faithfully fulfilled. For the past 12 of 15 years, he served the church as assistant Sunday School Superintendent and teacher and was interested in all phases of church work.
Throughout his life, Mr. Wampler was a devout Christian and highly regarded by the thousands with whom he came in contact. He was faithful to the church to the last, and will be greatly missed in the Edom and Penn Laird communities.
Mr. Wampler’s first wife, Miss Susan Cline, daughter of the late Rev. Samuel Cline, of Goods Mill, died three and a half years ago. His second wife who was Mrs. Mary Heatwole Cline, of Broadway survives.
Surviving also are the following children: Mrs. J. W. Diehl, of Bridgewater, Mrs. John Martz, of Hershey, Pa., Whitfield E. Wampler of Spring City, Pa., Mrs. Ernest Martz, of Palmyra, Pa., Miss Fleta Wampler, of Bridgewater College, Charles M. and Alfred R., of Palmyra, Pa., and Mrs. B. F. Yeizh, Port Royal, Pa.
He also leaves the following sisters and brothers: I. S. Wampler, of Nashville, Tenn.; W. C. Wampler, Mrs. John H. Berry, and Mrs. D. M. Wetsel of Harrisonburg.
Funeral service will be held Wednesday morning at eleven o’clock from Mill Creek Church of the Brethren, the party leaving the Wampler home at nine o’clock. The Rev. C. E. Long and the Rev. Perry Shenk will officiate. Nelson Huffman will lead the music.
Pallbearers will be Virgil Miller, J. F. Myers, Willie Wenger, C. W. Burgess, Roy Kline and Charles King.
