Mrs. Rozila Griner
Mrs. Rozila Griner, daughter of G. W. and Mary Hightower, was born February 4, 1860, near Nokomis, Ill. She departed this life September 27 1940.
She was married to W. W. Griner September 7, 1876. Unto this union 6 children were born; 4 children and husband preceding her in death. She leaves two daughters, Mrs. Gladie Moore and Hattie Harper, both of Gentry; two brothers, P. H. Hightower of Joplin and E. R. Hightower of Kansas City; 6 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren besides a host of friends and relatives.
She was a member of the Baptist church since childhood and also of the Eastern Star. She was a true and devoted mother an lived a life of service to others.
Funeral services were held at the Baptist church Sunday, September 29, at 1:30 p.m. in charge of Rev. Carl Nelson assisted by Rev. Fred Hamilton and Rev. Lillard. Songs were “Never Grow Old” and “Come, Angel Band” sang by a quartette composed of Mrs. Dick Carter, Mildred Backer, Callie White and Mr. Ladd, and a solo “In the Garden” by Mrs. Pearl Mitchell. Pallbearers were Dick Carter, A. Brogdon, Vic Tygart, Art Steele, Newton Maple and Clem Test. Honorary pallbearers were of the Eastern Star, Mrs. Bertha Clemmer, Mrs. Art Steele, Jessie Test, Sadie Monroe, Alice Beard and Mrs. Jewell Diven. Burial was in Gentry cemetery with Wasson’s in charge.
