W. G. Aber, prominent Wolf creek rancher, pioneer and former legislator, died at 1:20 o'clock Thursday morning at the Lord Lighter hospital at Omaha, according to a telegram received here by his son-in-law, Owen Hoge.
Mr. Aber's death followed an illness of nearly a year. He has been at the hospital since Sept. 10. Mrs. Aber and their daughter, Mrs. Owen Hoge, were with him when he died. His son S. P. Aber returned two weeks ago from Omaha.
Mr. Aber, who was born in Pennsylvania, came west in his youth. He had lived in this immediate vicinity since 1886, and at the time of his death was one of the owners of the Aber Bros. ranch fourteen miles west of Sheridan on Wolf creek.
He served terms in the state legislature three and five years ago, and was active in education and prohibition legislature. He was a member of the equity commissioners when the present Sheridan county court house was erected. He was also one of the elders of the Presbyterian church here.
He is survived by his widow, one son and one daughter. The body will arrived on 41 Friday afternoon in care of the Reed mortuary.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2 o'clock Sunday afternoon at the Presbyterian church. Interment will be made in the Masonic circle in the Mount Hope cemetery. Mr. Aber held membership in Sheridan Lodge No 8 A F and AM Sheridan Chapter No. 7, Royal Arch Masons; DeMolay Commandery No. 6, Knights Templar, and Kalif Temple Shrine.
