Carrie was the daughter of Samuel Ackley and Tursa French. She grew up in Wayne with her siblings: Charles, Leona and Laura Ann. In 1881, she married Cyrus Edward Adams and they had four children: Charles Eberle, Glenn Edward, Irma Neta and Leona Bernice. According to her death certificate, she died suddenly due to 'organic disease of heart'.
