Josephine was the daughter of Chesly Oren and Sarah Barbara (White) Rainey. She and her family moved to Greene County, MO around 1854, and she married Townley Rose on 6 Nov 1856. Their first two children (James and Mary, buried here in Prospect) died very young, and their other daughter Arabella married John Tolliver Carter. Josephine shares a headstone with her father-in-law, William R. Rose, who also passed away in 1863.
