The son of Ruth (Edmunson) Mayfield of Lisbon and the late Brooks James Mayfield, he was born in East Liverpool on April 25, 1950, and lived his entire life in the area.
Mr. Mayfield retired from the Lordstown Plant of General Motors where he worked as a welder. He was a graduate of East Liverpool High School, Class of 1968, and enjoyed being in the outdoors and enjoyed hunting and fishing and working on cars.
In addition to his mother, he is survived by a son, James E. Mayfield Jr. and his wife, Billi Jo, of East Liverpool, two daughters, Tracy Russell and her fiancé, Rick Rayburn, of Boardman and Teresa Ammon and her husband, Alan Sr. of Hammondsville. Three brothers, Thurman Mayfield of East Liverpool, Ralph Mayfield of Florida and Floyd Lewis also of Florida. Four sisters, Garnet Smith of Wellsville, Sara Freeman of Lisbon, Jenny Craig of East Liverpool, and Ida Campbell of Minerva. Four grandchildren, Austin and Megan Mayfield of East Liverpool and Alan Jr. and Makayla Ammon of Hammondsville. Cheryl Leonard, of Lisbon, his companion of 25 years, also survives him.
In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Heather Mayfield and a brother, Ronald Mayfield.
Entombment will follow in Shadow Lawn Memory Gardens.
