Robert "Bob" Cope, 73, Benham, died March 16, 2006, at his residence.

A native of Benham, Cope was retired after 35 years of service with International Harvester as a mine foreman. He was also a U.S. Army veteran and a member of VFW Post 5171. He attended Benham United Methodist Church.

He was preceded in death by his parents, John Mack and Elsie Arnold Cope; three brothers: James W., Joe and Ralph Cope; and four sisters: June Cole, Sue Brown, Mary Saylor and Thelma Cope.

Survivors include his wife, Pearl Walters Cope, Benham; two sons: Rick Cope and wife, Sandy, Benham; and Todd Cope, Benham; six grandchildren: Matthew, Kevin, Kristen and Kelsey Cope, all of Cumberland; and Ryan and Elizabeth Cope, Benham; two brothers: Charles Cope and wife, Alma, Benham; and Cecil Cope, Benham; one sister: Shirley Cope, Benham; and two sisters-in-law, Beatrice Cope, Lynch; and Mary Cope, Benham.

Visitation will be held today from 6 to 9 p.m. at Tri-City Funeral Home.

Funeral services will be conducted Saturday at 1 p.m. at the funeral home with the Rev. Charles Spice and Rick Cope officiating.

Burial will follow in Benham Cemetery. Graveside military rites will be conducted by VFW Post 5171 of Cumberland.

Eddie Estep, Shelby Fields, Josh Fields, Roger Sturgill, Marcus Ely, Jerry Halcomb, Terry Sheffield and Rainbo Johnson will serve as pallbearers.

Honorary pallbearers will be Jerry Williams, Donnie Browning, Roger Raleigh, Jimmy Dale Hensley and Bob Howard.
