Funeral services for Thomas Harrison Butler, 81, Merna, were held today (Monday) at 2 peme at the Schneringer—Johnson and Govier Bros. chapel in Broken Bow . The Rev. Withee of the Merna EUB church officiated.
Interment will be in the Riverside cemetery, Sterling, Colo. , Wednesday at 2 p.m.
Butler died in a Broken Bow hospital last Friday.
Survivors include sons, Alvin, Hastings, Raymond, Arnold, William, Thedford, Chester, Wahoo, sisters, Mrs. Etta Barrett, Merna, Bertha Lewis, Arnold, and mrs. Emma Terry, Los Angeles, brothers, Frank,
Portland, Ore. and William, Redwood City, Calif.

on the organ by Mrs. Elva Dainton. Graveside services were held on Feb, 214 at the Riverside cemetery in
Sterling, Colo. with the Rev. Robert Perske officiating. Thomas Harriso utler, son of Marion and Millie Ann butler, was born in Hancock County, 111. on Nov. 13, 1878. He was 81 years, 3 months and
6 days at the time of his death on Friday, Feb. 19, 1960 at the Broken
bow Community hospitable
In August, 1882, he came with his pioneer parents to the family
homestead in Ortello Valley. In 1906, he was married to Bessie Belle
Maupin and to this union, seven sons were born.
in the spring of 1900, the family homesteaded in Graylin, Colo.
as he was affectionately 1923, Mrs Butler passed away, Leaving "Tommie" ,
called, to be both mother and father to his five living boys, a task he did
well. The family later moved back to Nebraska, in or near Custer county where
he resided until his death. The contents of his well—worn Bible were the source of much comfort, and
the tattered pages are the silent testimony of his closesness to God's word.
He was united with the Seventh Day Adventist Church of Craylin, Colo, in 1919.
Survivors include four sons, Alvin, Raymond, William and Chester; four
granddaughters, Linda Butler, Arnold, Mrs. Eulalia Belle Scot ton, Madison,
and Mary and Shirley butler, Wahoo; three grandsons, Niel, Larry and
N.C., John Butler, Thedford; one great grandson, Brian S cotton, Madison, N .C .
