"John How, the immigrant ancestor of a large number of families of this name in America is thought to have descended from John Howe of Warwickshire, England, and to have been a grandson of John Howe of Houdin-hall."
Many also believe that Joseph Howe was either a brother, or a cousin, to the three famous Howe brothers during the Revolutionary War. There is no evidence for this other than some speculative text by various family members who wrote some 150 years after his death. Might the information on Joseph's origins been twisted around so many years later, to where only a portion of it was correct?
In any event, I will post a series of .jpg images to this profile, numbered 1 through 6, which examine the theory that perhaps he was born near Boston, while his immediate ancestors before him were from England. We all should keep an open mind while examining the clues in various texts written about this fascinating ancestor of ours.
