John Eckhardt, Jr., after suffering for about eleven days with inluenza-pneumonia, passed away at the home of his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Joh Eckhardt, Sr., on Thursday afternoon, October 24. The news of his death came as a shock to his many friends, for he was quite a prominent youg farmer residing west of the city. An open-air funeral was held at two o'clock at the home of his parents, Rev. Jacob Morac, pastor of the German Philadelphia church officiated. Interment was made in the Ritzville cemetery.

John Eckhardt was born Jue 1st 1893 at Libau, Russia, just before his parents sailed for this country. The family settled in Lincoln, Nebr., and when John was three years old they removed to Walla Walla where they lived for six years. Then they moved to Adams County and settled on a farm and there Joh resided until his death.

The deceased is survived by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. John Eckhardt, Sr., and three sisters, Pauline, Mrs. Katherine Bastron and Mrs. John Wellsandt Jr.
