Mrs. Goode was born in Pingree, Idaho, on Dec. 16, 1936, to Taylor and Anna Mae Abnot. She lived in Idaho for 21 years until she married Sanchez Goode, a U.S. Navy sailor from St. Augustine, Fla. They lived in many different duty stations across the country, settling in St. Augustine in 1973.
Mrs. Goode is a retired bookkeeper. She and Mr. Goode enjoyed their retirement years by spending summers in Idaho, attending Navy reunions, and traveling. Mrs. Goode was a member of Anastasia Baptist Church, a sustaining member of the Junior Service League, and was active in several retired Navy organizations.
She was pre-deceased by her husband of 48 years, Sanchez Goode, who passed away in September 2006, her father, Taylor Abnot, and her brother, Neal Abnot.
Mrs. Goode is survived by her four children: Kelly (Kevin) Battell, William (Mary) Goode, Martin (Brenda) Goode, and Vernon Goode; six grandchildren: Kerron and Kyle Battell, Taylor, Cheyenne, Courtney, and Connor Goode; her mother, Anna Mae Abnot, (New Plymouth, Idaho); sisters, Betty Crump (New Plymouth), and Penny Mayo (Cleveland, Ohio); and many beloved cousins, nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held 10 a.m., Saturday, July 14, 2007, at Craig Funeral Home with the Rev. Walter West, pastor, officiating. Flowers are gratefully declined, but memorial contributions can be made in her honor to the American Cancer Society or a charity of your choice.
