Sherman Hackworth, 95, of Kennett, died Tuesday, March 9, 2004, at his residence. Born May 6, 1908, in Pocahontas, Ark., he was the son of the late James and Ellen Lee Holder Hackworth.

On Dec. 18, 1927, he married Geraldine Coburn, who preceded him in death on Dec. 18, 2002. He was also preceded in death by two brothers, Horace and Harvey Holder; two sisters, Lillie Shelton and Lila Harold and two grandchildren, Nancy Ann Hackworth and Baby Adam Evans.

Survivors include three sons, Mayford Hackworth and wife, Rube, of Malden, Mo., Kenneth Hackworth and wife, Mary, of Newark, Ark. and James Hackworth and wife, Helen, of Kennett; three daughters, Shelby Pelts and husband, Jim, of Kennett, Shirley Kimbrow and husband, Charles, of Hardaway, Ala. and Peggy McClenthan and husband, Jerry, of Springfield, Mo.; eight grandchildren, Keith Privett and wife, Lisa, of Kennett, Kim Privett Evans, of Germantown, Tenn., Terry Hackworth and wife, Connie and Ronnie Hackworth and wife, Nettie, all of Newark, Chuck Kimbrow and wife, Beth, of Atlanta, Ga., Debbie Simpson, of Sparta, Ill., Sharon York and husband, Joe, of Harrsboro, Ala. and Randy Kimbrow and wife, Jeannie, of Salem, Mo.; 15 great-grandchildren and five great-great-grandchildren.

Visitation will begin at 11 a.m. Saturday, March 13, at the McDaniel Funeral Home in Kennett. Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, March 13, at the McDaniel Funeral Home Chapel with Brother Bob Howerton, Jr. officiating. Burial will follow at the Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Kennett. Pallbearers are Terry, Ronnie, Cody and Brandon Hackworth, Chuckie Kimbrow and Keith Privett.
