Marie was a member of the Pleasant Valley Grange and Chaffee County Cowbells/Cattlewomen. She also was a member of the Monarch Mavericks Square Dance Club. During this time, she and Verl traveled to Hawaii to participate in Square Dance demonstrations. Marie was a great wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.
Marie is survived by her children, Ellen (Ralph) Miller of Salida, Cheryl Freek, also of Salida, and Debbie Graves (Ken Hoffman) of Moffat, CO; five grandchildren, Steven Miller, Clint Graves, Christy Porco, Katrina Freek and Eric Freek; six great-grandchildren, Katie Miller, Sam Miller, Noah Miller, Tristan Jones, Nicholas Jones and Anna Freek; one sister, Mabel Hook of Miami, OK; and many nieces, nephews, and friends. She was preceded in death by her daughter, Linda Freek, and one grandson, Roger Miller.
Funeral Services will be at 11 a.m., Monday, August 17, 2009, at the Wilson Funeral Home Chapel in Cañon City, with Reverend Richard Adams officiating. Interment will follow at Lakeside Cemetery in Cañon City.
Memorial donations may be made to the Angel of Shavano Hospice at 301 Oak St., Unit E, Salida, CO 81201.
