Horatio White Fisher, son of William Phillips Fisher and Martha P. White. Horatio first married Rebecca Rugely on January 15, 1851 in Lowndes County, Alabama. They had one child,Mary born 1852. Rebecca died four years later. Horatio married second to Sallie Comer Abercrombie on September 14, 1862 in Walker County, Texas. They were the parents of Marion, Sally Comer, Emily Jane, Ella L.,Minnie and Horatio Jr. Minnie Fisher Cunningham was the first woman to run for U.S. Senate in 1928. There is a book written by Judith N. McArthur and Harold L. Smith titled Minnie Fisher Cunningham A Suffragist's Life In Politics. Son Horatio died in 1919 in France and stated to been a World War I hero.
Horatio was a planter, legislator and Civil War Captain. He was elected to the Texas House of Representatives for Walker County in 1858. When the Civil War broke out he entered into the Confederate Army in the 7th Texas Cavalry. After the war he was appointed Justice of the Peace in Walker County. Was elected to the legislature 1875 and re-elected 1879.
