Paul W. Bek, son of Rev. Christian Bek and his wife Rosine, nee Muenzenmeier, was born at Washington, Mo., July 16, 1865. At the age of 13 years (in 1878) he came to Seward county with his parents.
April 2, 1891, he entered matrimony with Miss Ida Wulf of Falls City. This union was blessed wtih two sons.
In 1906 the deceased moved with his family from the farm to Seward, where he took charge of a grain elevator. In this business he was engaged until the day of his death.
Since 1900 he has been a member of St. John's Lutheran church.
He died June 16, 1931, at the age of 65 years and 11 months. He is survived by his widow, two sons, Arthur C., Paul H., his daughter-in-law, Mrs. Arthur C. Bek, seven brothers and two sisters: Mrs. Lydia Blanchard of Murdo, S.D.; T. C. Bek of Seward; Carl Bek of Falls City, Nebr.; Fred Bek of Chicago, Ill.; Theo E. Bek of Seward; Christian Bek of Winterset, Iowa; John Bek and Hugh E. Bek, both of Charleston, W. Va.; Miss Dora Bek of Seward.
Burial services were held June 16, 1931, at the home and at St. John's Lutheran church. Interment was made at Seward cemetery.
