She was born December 22, 1928, the daughter of Claude C. and Rose McCaffery Johnson at Seneca, one of nine children. She grew up in Seneca, attending Catholic schools.
She married Gale E. Gakle, on February 15, 1952, in Sabetha. They lived in Excelsior Springs, MO, many years before moving to Sabetha in 1981. She was employed for a number of years for several resturants throughout her working career.
She is survived by sons, Gale Galke, Holton; Roger A. Galke, Burlington; daughter, Betty J. Rokey, Sabetha; sisters, Doris Korber, Wichita; Grace Pederson, Centralia; Eileen Hebel, Beatrice, NE; three grandsons and two granddaughters.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Gale E. Gakle on October 17, 1988; her parents; three brothers; two sisters; and an infant daughter, Gaylene Gakle on June 26, 1956.
Funeral services were held May 9, 1997, at the Popkess Mortuary Chapel in Sabetha. Burial was in the Sabetha Cemetery.
