She was thereafter raised by her grandparents, Theodocia (Hagins) Byrd and John William Byrd, who had a young son (Woodrow) who was the same age, so Theodocia was able to nurse the children together.
Byrd married Roger B. Rogers, and they moved to Middletown, Ohio in 1952. They had one son: George Martin Rogers (married to Georgianna), and two grandchildren: Diana and Marty Rogers.
