ANDERSON — Kenneth W. Bennett, 86, Anderson, died peacefully Aug. 10, 2009, following a brief illness.

He was born Dec. 1, 1922, in Henry County, and was a graduate of Markleville High School, Class of 1940.

Kenneth was a veteran of World War II, serving in the U.S. Navy until honorably discharged in 1946.

He was self-employed, managing Kenneth Bennett Remodeling Contractor, Meadowbrook Launderette, and retired owning Jug Liquors.

His interests included shooting trap on Wednesday as a member of the Alexandria Gun Club. He also enjoyed weekly breakfast with cousins.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 58 years, Peggy Joan (Barg) Bennett; parents, Lester and Bertha A. (Savill) Bennett; and siblings, Barbara Bell and Paul H. Bennett of Greenfield.

Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Robert D. Loose Funeral Homes and Crematory, South Chapel.

Services will be Thursday at 1 p.m. at the South Chapel with Pastor John Hackney officiating. Burial will be in Anderson Memorial Park Cemetery, Anderson, with military rites by the Veterans of Foreign Wars 266.

The family requests in lieu of flowers, monetary contributions be made to East Lynn Christian Church Pantry, 522 E. 53rd St., Anderson, IN 46013. This donation will sponsor an entire truckload delivery from Second Harvest.
