He had pastored in several states and Old Mexico, also in Myrtle, Cave Springs, and Cherokee Village and recently had been attending the Alton United Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife, Thelma of the home; one daughter, Ann Riley of Washington, D.C.; two sons, John Bird of Dallas, TX and Timothy Bird of Atlanta, GA; one step-son, Ted Herbert of Alton, MO; one brother, William Bird of Texas; two brothers-in-law, W.H. Masters of Alton and Ray Masters of Indiana; six grandchildren; and four great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Leila Bird; his first wife, Virginia; and one sister.
Funeral services were held Monday, May 2, 1994 at 11 am in the Clary Chapel with Bro. John Lewis Casey officiating.
Burial was in the Cave Springs Cemetery under the direction of Clary Funeral Home of Alton, MO.
