Nancy Hider Bandy was the daughter of Thomas and Rebecca Goodson Bandy. Thomas was a veteran of the War of 1812. The Bandys and Fortenberrys were Huguenots and members of the Shady Grove Presbyterian Church in Strawberry,Lawrence Co, Ark. The Bandys moved there in about 1830. She was courted by Oliver Rice Fortenberry and they were married on July 28,1841. Their children were: Thomas Bandy 1843,Rebecca Adeline 1845,Joseph Henry 1846,Martha Emily 1847,Susan Catherine 1849,Henry Franklin Bone 1851,Nancy Jane 1853,Mary Elizabeth 1855,Harriet Virginia 1859,John Cephus 1859,Matildia Francis 1863. In 1869, they moved to Denton Co. Texas.
