Beloved Man Called Home

J. W. Christian, aged 74, passed away Thursday morning at his home on Danville 3. He is survived by his wife; five daughters, Mrs. Odis Hill, Mrs. Arthur King, Mrs. Odis Walden, Mrs. Ray Walden, Mrs. Clara Walden; [three sons] Monroe, Louis and Grady Christian; 14 grandchildren; one great grandchild; a brother W. F. Christian; a sister, Mrs. Cordie Copling.

Mr. Christian was a member of the Walden chapel Baptist church and served as a deacon eight years, being widely beloved in his community.

Services will be conducted by Rev. F. O. Parker at two o'clock Friday afternoon at Fergeso [Fergason] cemetery, Howell directing. Grandsons will be pallbearers and nieces will handle the flowers.

He was the son of John Christian and Sarah Harlow Christian. He was first married in 1898 to Minnie Bell McCormick who died within a year of their marriage. He then married Haughty Ester Howell who was the mother of all his children. After her death, he married Mollie A. Talley on July 12, 1925 in Morgan County. His last wife was Susie Walden Cowart whom he married on October 24, 1935, also in Morgan County.
