Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 12, at St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Rockwell City, with Pastor Brian Palmer officiating.
Burial will be at Rosehill Cemetery, Rockwell City, with Military Graveside Rites conducted by the Rockwell City Veterans Organization.
Visitation will be 4 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at the Palmer & Swank Funeral Home, Rockwell City.
Allen is survived by his wife of 60 years, Darlene; son Steve Boedecker and his wife Judy of Twin Lakes; daughter Sandy Brehm of Williamsburg; five grandchildren; 3 great-grandsons; 2 step-great-grandsons; and sisters, Geraldine Seehase and Donna (Don) Larson, all of Waverly.
He was preceded in death by his grandson, Nicholas Brehm; parents, Edward C. and Laura Degelau Boedecker; and brother-in-law Raymond Seehase.
Allen E. Boedecker was born July 21, 1925 at Dubuque, and was raised and educated at Sumner. On June 14, 1944 he served in the United States Air Force during World War II, where he attended Gunnery School for B-17 and B-29 Bomber Aircraft in Laredo, Texas. He then was stationed in Italy until his honorable discharge on February 22, 1947. On June 26, 1949, he was united in marriage to Darlene Nicklaus at Grace Lutheran Church in Tripoli. The couple established their home in Sumner. Allen worked for the Railroad from 1947 to 1950. He then worked for Walker Repair Shop. In 1955, the couple made their home in Rockwell City, where he owned and operated a Sinclair Station for ten years. In 1965, Allen went to work for the Farnhamville Coop Elevator, until his retirement in 1986.
Allen was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church, VFW, the American Legion, past Post Commander, and a past member of the Rockwell City Jaycees. Allen also was park superintendent for the Twin Lakes Sate Parks from 1982 until 1995. In 2000, Allen and Darlene served as Grand Marshall of the Twin Lakes Restoration Association.
