Mr. Hamby was born November 16, 1916 in Catoosa, and lived most of his life in Coalfield.
Mr. Hamby was a member of Middle Creek Baptist Church, and was a member Petros Masonic Lodge, Black Diamond #625 F&A.M. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, traveling, and was known as a great story teller.
Mr. Hamby enjoyed his work, which spanned from farming, coal mining, working at a saw mill, TVA, Alcoa Aluminum Plant, TN Eastman, AEC, MSI, Rust Engineering, culminating employment with the City of Oak Ridge when he retired from the Oak Ridge Water Plant at the age of 75.He was preceded in death by his father, William Hamby, mother, Clara Ruppe Hamby, first wife, Ruth McGlothin Hamby, second wife, Lois Napier Hamby, also by a daughter, Peggy Hamby Jones, sons-in-law, Bill McPeters, and Joe Teague, great grandson, Mitchell Lindsay, by one brother, Charles Hamby, and four sisters, Stella Melhorn, Louella Melhorn, Lena Henley, and Katie Hamby.
Mr. Hamby is survived by daughters Karen Teague of Coalfield, Ann Lindsay and husband David of Coalfield, Rita Brown and husband David of Oceanside, CA, step children, H.B. Napier, of Atlanta GA, Sharon Jackson, of Coalfield, and Mark Napier and wife Sherenia of Coalfield.
He is also survived by, grandchildren, Katrina Moore and husband Gerald, Scott McPeters and wife Kyla, Elizabeth Roberts and husband Randy, Brad Jones and wife Nicole, all of Coalfield, Lee Couture and husband Marty of Michigan, John Lindsay and wife April of Powell, Andy Brown of California, Paul Brown and wife Jessica of Clinton, Pamela Klicka and husband Andrew of Clinton. By great-grandchildren, Maegan Mooneyhan and husband Aaron, Zach Moore and fiance Caitlyn Wakefield, Dalton and Drake Roberts, Katelyn and Levi McPeters, Chandler and Naomi Jones, all of Coalfield, Ryan Couture of Connecticut, Austin Couture and fiance Taylor Kanaby, Jared and Andrea Couture, all of Michigan, Trevor Bogard and fiance Brittany Evans, of Oak Ridge, Cameron, Madison, Carley, Max, and Molly Lindsay, of Powell, and Elias Klicka of Clinton. By Great-grand-children Gracie and Marlie Mooneyhan, of Coalfield, and Carter Bogard of Oak Ridge.He is also survived by a sister, Wilma Walker, of Harriman, Brother-in-law, Robert E. Jones of Oliver Springs. He is also survived by several step grandchildren, a host of nieces and nephews, and many special friends.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to the many special caregivers that spent time with Mr. Hamby during his illness. The family will receive friends, Monday, June 29, 2015 between 5:00 and 7:00PM at Sharp Funeral Home in Oliver Springs. The funeral will follow at 7:00PM in the funeral home chapel with Rev.
