Joseph Charles Frisino was born January 2, 1919, in Baltimore, Maryland, to Gertrude Teresa Drane and Joseph Frisino. He graduated from Baltimore Polytechnic Institute in 1936 and began a career in journalism with the Baltimore News-Post until he was drafted into the United States Army. He served in the Signal Corps from 1941 to 1946, including nineteen months in Burma. During part of this time he was stationed in Seattle, Washington, where he met and married his wife. They later raised four children.

Upon his discharge from the service and return to Seattle, he was hired by the Seattle Post-Intelligencer newspaper. He worked as a reporter, art editor, day news editor, and city desk editor. He retired in 1985 but continued to write a column and host a T.V. show focusing on seniors.

Joe and his wife were married for sixty-five years and she was at his side when he passed away.
