"(Picture) R. H. Lewis, 59, of Paris died Tuesday, June 24, 1997, at Baylor University Medical Center, Dallas. Services will be 1 p.m. Saturday, June 28, at Greater Mt. Carmel Baptist Church with the Rev. Richard Jones Jr. officiating. Beasley Funeral Home will make burial in Biardstown Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7-8 p.m. Friday at Greater Mt. Carmel Baptist Church; 405 2nd NE.
He was born June 20, 1938, in Biardstown to Willie B. and Ether Ruby Embry Lewis. He was a graduate of Gibbons High School and Marshall College. He married Rowena N. Williams Jan. 19, 1985, in Paris. He was a driver for MIDCO Trucking Co. and a member of the Greater Memorial Missionary Baptist Church in Dallas. He had served in the Army.
Surviving are his wife, Rowena N. Williams Lewis; his mother, Ether R. Lewis of Paris; sons, Arbrey Dale Dixon and Robert B. Lewis, both of Denver, CO; a daughter, Shelia Bills of Sherman; stepsons, Walter Johnson II, Troy Johnson and Steven Johnson, all of Denver; stepdaughters, Lisa Johnson of Dallas and Vergie Battle of Plano; daughters-in-law, Audrey Dixon and Gail Johnson of Denver; brothers, Donnell Rucker of Carson, CA, Olbern Jones Sr. of Paris and Paul Smith of Amarillo; and 21 grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be O. C. McCuin, Roy Reed, Jeffrey Crawford, Wayne Battle, Ken Marvel and Hans Crumpton.'
