Z. Z. Baker
Services at 11:30 a.m. Saturday will be followed by masonic services conducted by Siloam Lodge No.225, AF&AM, in Mount Hope Mausoleum in Topeka for Z. Z. Baker, 83, Gower, Mo., formerly of Topeka. he died Wednesday, Oct. 10, at a Gower nursing hone where he lived since 1982.
Mr. Baker was a accounting supervisor for Southwestern Bell Telephone Co. 37 years at Kansas City, Mo. and Topeka.
He was born Sept 19, 1901,, near Butler, Mo., the son of James Henry and Edith Beard Baker. He grew up in Butler and attended Butler schools. He was graduated from the University of Missouri, Columbia, in 1926. he later lived in Kansas City, Mo. until 1951 when he was transferred to Topeka.
Mr. Baker was a member of First Presbyterian Church, Siloam Lodge No. 225, AF&AM and Telephone Pioneers of America, all in Topeka.
His wife, Mrs. Kathryn Fisher Baker survives.
Other survivors include a son, James C. Baker, Gower, Mo.; two sisters, Mrs. Ethel Randall, Mount Pleasanton, Texas, and Mrs. Vera Powell, Butler, Mo.; two brothers, Oscar Baker and Lloyd Baker, both of Butler, Mo.; and four grandsons.
Burial will be in Mount Hope Cemetery. Relatives and friends will meet from 6:30 until 7:30 p.m. Friday at Hixson-Klein Funeral Home in Gower, Mo. Memorial contributions may be made to First Presbyterian Church, 817 Harrison, 66612.
