Lynn J. Asay was born Sunday, August 15, 1920 in Clawson, Utah to Jerome Jr. and Mary Louise Jensen Asay.

The family moved to St. George when he was 14 where he graduated from Dixie College. He served in Special Weapons in the Army Air Corps during WWII.

He married Nellie Judd in the St. George Temple on June 1, 1943. They resided in Orem, a community in Utah County.

He graduated from Brigham Young University on their 25th Wedding Anniversary and taught at Utah Technical College (now Utah Valley University). He taught Driver's Education until his retirment in 1985.

Lynn was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, belonging to the Sunset Heights Second Ward. He and Nellie served a mission to Ruidoso, New Mexico in 1986. He served as a temple worker for over 22 years.

Lynn passed away on Monday, July 13, 2009 at the Golden Living Center in Orem, Utah, where he had been a patient for the last two months of his life. Over the years, dementia had dimmed his mind and slowed his body but never lessened his love for his family.

Lynn left to cherish his memory: his wife; sisters, Genevieve Smith, Adell Barnes, and Fern Prisbrey; children, Lynell (Duane) Shock, Lehi; Phyllis (Glen Lee) Andersen, Nauvoo, IL; Thea Daniel, Springville; Rhea (Evan) Racker, St. George; Allen (Dana) Asay, Albuquerque, NM; and Debbie (who has been their rock these last years); 24 grandchildren and 85+ great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, brother Gene, and son-in-law, M. Roy Daniel.

Funeral services were held on Friday, July 17, 2009 at 2:00 p.m. in the Sunset Heights Stake Center of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints located at 400 West 1260 South in Orem. Calling hours were held on Thursday evening from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. at Berg Mortuary of Provo located at 185 East Center Street in Provo, and on Friday from 12:30 until 1:30 p.m. prior to the services at the church.
Graveside services were held on Saturday, July 18, 2009 at 2:00 p.m. in the Kanab City Cemetery in Kanab, Utah, where Lynn was laid to rest.
