MRS. HOWELL IS HONORED

Mrs. Tom Howell, jr., was honored by the Woodland grade school pupils at the graduation ceremony for eighth grade students last Friday night. A musical program was dedicated to Mrs. Howell for her contribution to her community.

Piano pupils who study under Mrs. Howell participated in a play "When They Were Children, Too," under the direction of Mrs. Edith Amason. In the play, the students became famous composers and encouraged a little girl, played by Jackie Pearson, to want to study and to practice her music.

Merry Morrow was narrator for the program. Students of grades 1-4 presented a vocal number, "Do Re Me" and grades 5-8 sang "Let There Be Music". Merry Morrow also presented the salute to Mrs. Howell and recognized Mr. Howell for his support and assistance to his wife. Brenda Smith and Marilyn Drennan were accompanists for the chorus.

Charlotte Grant and Marilyn Drennan played a duet for the processional and recessional. Brenda Brown gave the salutatory address and Kathy Pearson, the valedictory address.

Oscar Huffines, county superintendent of schools, made the principal address and presented the diplomas. Other members of the class were Mike Wilson, Ellis Williams, David Eaves, and Patty LaNoy.
